You can try soaking the electrode plates in very mild vinegar/water solution. Holes in the plates are not idea but do not interfere with electrical connection (rare though, I have not seen any holes except in a few plates over 5 years old before gold plating was applied routinely). You can always buy a new sensor pack of course, which will give you a fresh set and a lot of spares from your existing set
