Hello there,
First of all please know that i just began “playing” with the EmotivPRO software. My software was connecting fine before I installed a few updates here and there and I am not sure McAfee got installed in the middle of all of the updates (I do not like McAfee). Note: uninstalling McAfee did not fix the problem in my case.
System: Window 10 Lenovo Carbon 1
Problem: “Connecting Services” running endlessly.
Attempts to solve problem:
1. Open Services from Windows Search field and locate Emotiv CortexServices..right click “Restart” (problem persist)
2. Execute 1. plus restart computer (problem persist)
3. Execute 1, and 2 plus right click on the EmotivePRO icon and run as administrator (problem persist)
4. Uninstalled EmotivPRO, download from Emotiv website and reinstall (problem persist)
5. (SOLUTION) Run Windows Notepad as Administrator by right clicking on it and open Local Disk (C:)/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/host
Check that the host file has the line: 127.0.0.1 emotivcortex.com
Modified file line: 0.0.0.1 mssplus.mcafee.com 127.0.0.1 emotivecortex.com
New file after manual changes: 127.0.0.1 emotivecortex.com (SAVE FILE and restart computer)
